My Story

Heather Kramer is a labor and employment attorney with over 20 years of experience, advising her clients on a wide variety of issues, including compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws; preparing and negotiating employment and separation agreements; drafting and updating various employee policies and handbooks; assisting with requests for accommodations and leaves of absence; managing employee relations, discipline and discharge; handling criminal background checks and contingent worker issues; advising on reductions-in-force; and managing administrative charges of discrimination and harassment with the EEOC, DOJ, and other agencies.  Her clients range from small start-ups to large Fortune 500 companies, across the United States and globe.

Heather was born in Dallas and grew up in Arlington, Texas, attending Southern Methodist University, where she obtained a B.B.A from The Cox School of Business and St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she received her J.D.

After graduating from St. Mary’s, Heather returned to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and began her legal career as a briefing attorney for Justice David Richards at the Second Court of Appeals for The State of Texas.  The opportunity provided exposure to many different practice areas, which eventually led to a specific interest in labor and employment law, which has remained her practice area for more than 20 years.

Following her clerkship, Heather joined the law firm of Kelly, Hart & Hallman, L.L.P., where she was an associate in the labor and employment section and thereafter, served as labor and employment counsel for Blockbuster Inc.  Following the company’s ceased operations, Heather served as contract employment counsel for both FedEx Office and Texas Instruments, assisting with a broad range of labor and employment matters.

On a personal note, Heather is married to Stuart, and they have three children, two daughters and a son, including twins.  Heather and Stuart were married in Costa Rica, which continues to be a favorite travel destination.  In addition to traveling, they enjoy spending time with their three children, family campouts, movies, live music, and riding around White Rock Lake – whether on bikes or horseback.  The family also includes two dogs, three cats and two horses.
